Notre Dame called out as overrated after double-digit home loss to Cincinnati
Notre Dame came into Saturday’s game against Cincinnati ranked No. 9. That ranking is about to drop as the No. 7 Cincinnati handed the Irish their first loss of the 2021 season, 24-13 in South Bend.
As expected, college football fans are ripping Notre Dame as overrated. Here’s a small sample of what’s being said about the Fighting Irish on Twitter:
Well, when things got tight, Cincinnati shut the door. Notre Dame is vastly overrated this year–I mean, they had to rally late to squeak past Toledo–but still, it's no small accomplishment to go into Notre Dame Stadium and come away with a win. #NCAAF

The loss to Cincinnati snaps Notre Dame’s 26-game home winning streak. Notre Dame opened as a 1.5-point favorite for Saturday’s game, per OddsShark.
While Notre Dame still has plenty of Power 5 opponents left on the schedule, a home loss to a Group of 5 team may be enough to sink the Irish’s College Football Playoff hopes in October.
