Notre Dame added a big-time prospect to its 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday morning.
Ben Nichols, a 4-star offensive lineman out of Michigan, committed to the Fighting Irish on Christmas Eve. He had offers from programs such as Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and many more.
Here’s his official announcement:
Nichols is a significant addition for the Fighting Irish. He’s the No. 227 overall player and the No. 16 interior offensive lineman for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 3 player from the state of Michigan.
He attends Davison High School in Davison, Michigan. He’s listed at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds. He initially received an offer from Notre Dame back in March — several months before the start of his junior season of high school football.
Although it’s still relatively early in the 2026 class, it’s clear Notre Dame is already off to a great start. Nichols is the 6th member of Notre Dame’s 2026 class. The class ranks No. 8 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
