One of the nation’s top overall prospects in the 2018 recruiting cycle appears to be leaving Ohio State.

Buckeye defensive back Tyreke Johnson announced on Wednesday that he is “officially in the portal” after three seasons in Columbus. Johnson is originally from Jacksonville.

Rated as a five-star prospect in the 2018 recruiting cycle, Johnson was regarded as the No. 2 safety prospect and the No. 21 overall recruit in the country coming out of Trinity Christian Academy.

Johnson signed with Ohio State over scholarship offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and UCLA.

During his two seasons on the field for Ohio State, Johnson had made a total of eight tackles in 11 career appearances.
