Caleb Williams has reached the end of his journey in college football.

Long expected, Williams confirmed earlier reports of his decision by penning his farewell note to USC Monday afternoon. Widely regarded as the top prospect in the draft, Williams is viewed as potentially a generational talent at the quarterback position.

“Since I was 10, all I ever wanted to do was to play football. The journey would be empty without the people who have supported and loved me,” wrote Williams. “I will Fight On forever and rep Hornsdown4Life. I’m ready to do whatever it takes. I am officially declaring for the NFL Draft.”

As a true freshman, Williams burst onto the scene with 27 total touchdowns for Oklahoma. Following Lincoln Riley’s departure to USC, Williams would eventually follow his head coach to play for the Trojans.

During his first season at USC, Williams captured the Heisman Trophy while throwing for more than 4,500 yards with 52 total touchdowns and just 5 interceptions. USC played for the Pac-12 title in 2022 but an injury to Williams ultimately derailed the game and the Playoff hopes of the Trojans.

In 2023, USC managed just a 7-5 record in the regular season, but Williams and the offense cannot be blamed for that. Behind another electric performance that included 41 total touchdowns for Williams, the Trojans averaged 41.8 points per game, a mark that ranked 3rd nationally.
