College GameDay is turning to one of Oklahoma’s own for Saturday’s big show in Norman.

Country megastar Blake Shelton (Mr. Gwen Stefani to many rock and pop fans) has been announced as the celebrity guest picker for Saturday’s show ahead of the top-15 showdown between No. 6 Tennessee and No. 15 Oklahoma.

Shelton is a native of Ada, Oklahoma. In 2021, he and Stefani built a massive lakefront mansion near Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Shelton joined GameDay analyst Pat McAfee on Thursday to discuss his appearance on the Saturday pregame show. The country hitmaker appeared remotely from Utah, where he’s currently on a hunting trip.

“I told all the guys at the camp here where we’re staying, I said, ‘Man, you ain’t gonna believe this. Pat just texted me and asked me to go do ESPN GameDay,'” Shelton shared.

“Of course, everybody was, ‘You gotta do it! You gotta do it, man!’ I said, ‘But yeah I don’t know sh-t about all these teams.’ I’m obviously an OU fan, and an OSU fan, too. I don’t know if it’s legal to be a fan of both (Oklahoma and Oklahoma State), or not. But I always have been. I pull for all 3 of the teams, Tulsa too. Obviously, just a hometown kind of guy.”

Shelton will join host Rece Davis along with McAfee and fellow analysts Desmond Howard, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit at the desk to pick Saturday’s biggest Week 4 games. College football betting analyst ‘Stanford Steve’ Coughlin and reporters Pete Thamel, Jen Lada and Jess Sims also contribute weekly to GameDay. Herbstreit will be on the call for the Oklahoma-Tennessee game, set for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Saturday’s show will begin at 9 a.m. ET.
