Former Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight has seen enough of Oklahoma’s first season under Brent Venables. He was critical of the Sooners coach on the Field of 12 Podcast Monday.

Knight says the season is already a wash after losing to TCU last week and Kansas State before that.

“You’re not going to the Big 12 title game,” Knight said on The Field of 12 After Dark, via SI. “It is a failed season already in Norman, if you ask me.”

The Sooners are 3-2 after high expectations to start the season. That’s rough, but it’s also the reality of first-year head coaches.

Knight went further, explaining Venables’ defensive strategy was sinking the Sooners.

“You’ve got the best defensive mind in college football, arguably, and you’re not making adjustments with the guys that you have,” Knight said.
