The No. 1 prospect from England in the Class of 2024 is taking his talents across the pond to Oklahoma. 3-star interior offensive lineman Daniel Akinkunmi from the NFL Academy recently announced his decision to commit to the Sooners over other finalists Clemson, Baylor, and Miami.
The 6-foot-4.5, 310-pound Akinkunmi is already in rivalry mode, as he went horns down after putting on his Oklahoma hat, a nod to foe Texas. Akinkunmi hopes he’s the first of many international prospects to join the Sooners in the years to come.

“Joining the Sooner program is amazing,” Akinkunmi said via 247Sports. “It’s a step forward for internationals in general. I spoke to Coach Venables about it and I was one of the first true national players to go to Oklahoma. They had [a] player from Canada but the first person from overseas making a commitment and coming to Oklahoma. Hopefully we can build off that legacy.”
Akinkunmi is now the 25th commitment in the Class of 2024 for Oklahoma. 247Sports rates Oklahoma’s 2024 class as the 7th best in the nation at the moment.
No. 5 Oklahoma is coming off a a riveting 34-30 victory vs. then-No. 3 Texas last weekend. Oklahoma has a bye week and will look to move to 7-0 when they host UCF on Oct. 21 (12 p.m. EST/ABC).
