Oklahoma has positive update on pair of key offensive playmakers in Week 11

Oklahoma has been through the wringer this season, especially with injuries on the offensive side of the ball as it relates to the wide receiver position. Fortunately, some major reinforcements could be on the way for the Sooners.
On Thursday night, the program dropped the Week 11 availability report for a road trip to Mizzou, and the wide receiver duo of Deion Burks and Jalil Farooq were updated to “probable” for the weekend. That would be a major boost for the offense after Burks has missed the last 5 games and Farooq has missed the last 8.
The final status of Burks and Farooq still looms large with Oklahoma still without Nic Anderson, Andrel Anthony and Jayden Gibson for Week 11. Oklahoma’s leading rusher, Jovantae Barnes, is also questionable.
Here’s the full availability report as of Thursday night:
Burks transferred to the Sooners this offseason and was a major part of the offense early on. In spite of appearing in just 4 games so far, Burks remains 2nd on the Sooners with 26 catches and is still 4th in receiving yards (201) while leading the team in receiving touchdowns (3).
Oklahoma’s leading receiver is Javian Hester with just 265 yards on the season. Tight end Bauer Sharp leads the team with 34 catches through the first 9 games of the season.
Quarterback play has been rocky at various points of the season, but the injury issues at receiver have undoubtedly taken their toll. The Sooners are averaging just 188.7 yards per game through the air, and getting just one — or both — of Burks and Farooq back in the lineup is much-needed.
We’ll see if that is indeed the case on Saturday. Kickoff between the Sooners and Tigers is set for 7:45 pm ET on the SEC Network.
