Chandler Morris’ time at Oklahoma has come to an end.
The Sooner quarterback announced that news on Thursday evening after appearing in Oklahoma’s 55-20 win over Florida in the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday.
“I want to thank Coach Riley, the staff and the University of Oklahoma for the opportunity they gave me. After much thought, prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to leave OU. I will forever be indebted to this great program. Thank you and God Bless,” Morris shared on Thursday.
Morris is the son of current Auburn offensive coordinator (at least for now), Chad Morris.
He finishes his Oklahoma career completing three of five attempts for 39 yards. He also scored two rushing touchdowns during his debut season with the Sooners.
The Texas native was previously committed to Arkansas when his father was coaching the Razorbacks. Morris was a High School All-American coming out of Highland Park in Dallas.
It will be interesting to see where Morris heads next but he could follow his father this offseason, or potentially follow Shane Beamer to South Carolina now that the Gamecocks have a thin quarterback room following the pending transfer of Ryan Hilinski.
