Toby Keith fired up for Red River Showdown: ‘We’ve got something to prove’
Toby Keith is a huge Oklahoma fan and can hardly wait for the annual Red River Showdown.
He joined Dusty Dvoracek and Danny Kanell on Sirius XM Friday to talk about the big game with Texas. He described the game as a bloodbath.
Oklahoma wants to avenge last season’s 49-0 loss to the Longhorns.
“It’s just a bloodbath. I already know what’s gonna happen. There’s gonna be some crazy stuff happening. There’ll be some wacky stuff that won’t happen in any other game,” said Keith. “Both teams are undefeated and going to the SEC next year. Texas already beat Alabama, Oklahoma’s got a chip on their shoulder. We’ve got something to prove and I think it’s gonna be a great game.”
Country music legend and @OU_Football super fan, @tobykeith, is fired up for the Red River Showdown this weekend in Dallas.

Keith was also asked where the rivalry ranks in regard to game day atmosphere. He compared it to the Super Bowl.
“It’s Super Bowl stuff. I mean, that old stadium has its own mysterious feel to it. I think the Dallas Cowboys even used to play in there years ago,” said Keith. “It’s such an old venue and everybody in the last couple of years has started asking about moving it to Jerry’s World, but you can’t take that game out of that setting. It’s up there with like Super Bowl stuff. It’s a big game.”
The score will be settled Saturday at the Cotton Bowl at Noon ET on ESPN.
