A.J. Brown will be unavailable for the Philadelphia Eagles’ NFL Wild Card playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a knee sprain suffered in Week 18, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday.

Brown exited the regular season finale against the New York Giants after his injury and did not return. He “worked hard in his rehab” to be able to play on Monday, per Schefter, but ultimately has been ruled out. However, Schefter added that “Brown has made enough progress that, if the Eagles advance, he could return for the divisional playoff.”

In his 5th NFL season, Brown picked up where he left off from a career year in 2022, totaling 1,456 yards — 5th-highest in the league — and 7 touchdowns. He made the All-Pro 2nd team for a 2nd straight season and was named to his 3rd Pro Bowl.

But his absence is a big blow to the Eagles, who finished the regular season in a tailspin. Coming off an appearance in Super Bowl LVII, Nick Sirianni’s team started 10-1 and was poised to claim the NFC’s No. 1 seed for the 2nd straight year, but went 1-5 down the stretch to drop to the 5th seed.
