Already with the nation's No. 1 recruiting class, Ole Miss adds another in-state commitment Sunday
The Ole Miss Rebels are hot on the recruiting trail.
Saturday night, the Rebels picked up a commitment from the state’s No. 3 overall prospect Diwun Black, and Sunday, things got even better. Jay Stanley (Brandon, MS) committed to Ole Miss and Matt Luke. Stanley, slated to play OLB, is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and ranked as the nation’s No. 51 OLB and the state of Mississippi’s No. 31 overall prospect.
Stanley became the Rebels’ 14th commitment for the class of 2019, and the Rebels added to their No. 1 overall ranked class. Yes, it’s early, but it’s still quite an accomplishment.
He committed to the Rebels via Twitter:
Hopefully holding back with the cash. Bjork is still the AD right?
you might be the biggest fairweather fan I’ve ever seen, everything that I read from you is sad and negative. Try smiling once in a while, may do wonders for you. For someone who says Olemiss4ever you are definitely a baby about it.
Still cheating eh? Geeeze Bjork
God forbid Ole Miss gets recruits….. in Mississippi……….
It’s flattering Ole Miss is doing so well, people think we’re up to something. Gives me a chuckle knowing Ole Miss is keeping you people up at night.
Yea because theres no possible reason to think anything shady could happen at Ole Miss …right? Better hope its clean recruiting this time. If not the NCAA im sure would shut it down period.
I know. I hear what you’re saying. My post was a little sarcastic. However… HOWEVER… Ole Miss’ has been freshly hit with the bug spray by the NCAA. After suffering a four-year-long anal probe, I’m confident Luke and Co. are doing everything they can to make sure no shady business is going on. I firmly believe that.
Doesn’t seem that fishy to me, they just have a lot of guys committed. The class average is the lowest in the top 10. I’m sure it’ll end up a 15-25 type class, which is really good considering.
I’d love that kind of class. Looks like Matt Luke really knows how to recruit and get these kids to commit. I’m excited for the future of the program and getting this stupid NCAA business out of the way.
You ain’t lyin’. The cloud is gone, my friend!
I’m curious if they can end that high with the sanctions on number of scholarships. Looks good at first glance… in April.
I don’t think that anyone puts a lot of stock in recruiting rankings this far in advance. When LOI time comes around, some players will be ranked higher than they are now, others will be ranked lower. Some players will have changed commitments. Even without the reduced scholarships, Ole Miss would not end us #1 or #2 come signing day. All that we can say so far is the Luke and company are working their tails off. It will be quite a while before we find out how that all plays out.
I agree with everything you said. Well put.
