DeShawn Gaddie, standout Conference USA DB transfer, announces SEC commitment

DeShawn Gaddie Jr. is headed to the ‘Sip to continue his college football career. The standout defensive back from North Texas announced his transfer commitment to Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss program on Friday.

Gaddie shared the big news on social media.

Gaddie joins the Rebels after 4 seasons at North Texas. He played in 47 games for the Mean Green.

Gaddie’s career bests are spread over the past 3 seasons. In 2020, over just 9 games, recorded the 2 interceptions of his career so far. Gaddie’s 2021 season included 1.5 of his 2 career tackles for loss, part of a 57-tackle season in 13 appearances. This past season, Gaddie logged a career-high 61 total tackles, including 43 solo stops.

Gaddie was named first-team All-CUSA by PFF for the 2022 season. Having played 4 seasons without redshirting, Gaddie will be using the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for a final fifth season of eligibility.
