The Gator Bowl, which will pit Ole Miss against Duke, has been moved back to an 8 p.m. ET kickoff on Thursday night after Wednesday’s horrific events in New Orleans.

The Gator Bowl is being moved back to make way for the Sugar Bowl, which features No. 2 Georgia against No. 7 Notre Dame. This game was originally scheduled for 8:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday night, but was moved to 4 p.m. ET on Thursday due to a terrorist attack in New Orleans in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Ole Miss vs. Duke was originally scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on ESPN. Moving the game back to 8 simply gives the network time to air both matchups, with the CFP obviously expecting the most TV numbers.

Ole Miss vs. Duke, though not exactly the feature SEC matchup of the evening, should be a solid game. The Rebels face a Duke team that finished 9-3 with a close loss to SMU and a well-played game against Miami, despite the 51-31 final score.

It also marks the final college football game for Ole Miss’s Jaxson Dart, who had a great year targeting standout WR Tre Harris, who is also set to suit up for the bowl game.

The Rebels are considered heavy favorites for Thursday’s game, sitting at -17.5 on DraftKings.
