ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) predicts the outcome of every college football game every week.

After another wild weekend of action in Week 6, the model has updated its predictions for Week 7. Included in those predictions is the Ole Miss-LSU matchup.

The model gives Ole Miss a 67.8% chance to win, which means LSU has a 32.2% chance to pick up the upset at home.

LSU will head into this game off a bye week, while Ole Miss just easily got past South Carolina in Week 6. The Tigers are sitting at 4-1 overall and 1-0 in SEC play, while the Rebels are 5-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play.

The Rebels entered this season with College Football Playoff aspirations. Those aspirations are not completely dead, but losing to Kentucky at home certainly makes things tougher. The team has wins over Furman, MTSU, Wake Forest, Georgia Southern, and South Carolina.

The Tigers lost the opener to USC but have been perfect since then. The team has wins over Nicholls State, UCLA, South Carolina, and South  Alabama.

Ole Miss and LSU typically play high-scoring games against each other. In 2023, the Rebels beat the Tigers 55-49 in a shootout in Oxford. The Tigers won in 2022 and 2022, while the Rebels won last season and in 2021, showing the back-and-forth nature of this rivalry.

Overall, the Tigers have won 65 times in this rivalry while the Rebels have won 42. The teams have tied 4 times. Whoever wins the 2024 matchup could set themselves up to make a run at the Playoff.

This Week 7 matchup will kick off from Tiger Stadium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
