While Tim Tebow gets all the headlines, he’s not the only former SEC football player trying to make it on the diamond.

Former Ole Miss S Anthony Alford has received his call-up to the MLB with the Toronto Blue Jays. The Rebels’ official Twitter account congratulated him Friday afternoon.

Alford got the call after Blue Jays CF Darrell Ceciliani landed on the disabled list. He was a third-round pick by Toronto in the 2012 MLB amateur draft, but gave college football a shot, first at Southern Miss (2012) and then Ole Miss (2013-14). Alford left after the 2014 season to focus on baseball.
