Former Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt made headlines Wednesday when it was reported that he is suing his former employer over what he calls the school’s “smear campaign” blaming him for the violations being investigated by the NCAA. Romaro Miller, however, thinks the lawsuit should be the other way around.

Miller, who played quarterback at Ole Miss from 1997-2000, said he should be able to sue Nutt for “quitting” on Ole Miss.

Miller looked to be getting into coaching recently, but resigned in March as an assistant coach at Millsaps College to pursue a second chance in the Canadian Football League. If he chooses to coach again, it appears highly unlikely he would ever work with Nutt.

Nutt was fired by Ole Miss on Nov. 7, 2011, but allowed to stay on to coach the rest of the season. The Rebels were winless in the three games following Nutt’s firing (Louisiana Tech, LSU and Mississippi State), finishing 2-10 and 0-8 in conference play on the year.

In the suit, Nutt says that Ole Miss’ statements about the NCAA investigation have prevented him from getting another coaching job. Nutt currently works for CBS Sports as a college football studio analyst.
