Hugh Freeze, QB Chad Kelly address Friday night's high school football incident
At his weekly news conference Monday, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze again addressed quarterback Chad Kelly’s involvement in a brawl that broke out during his younger brother’s high school football game last Friday night.
“My statement is what it is. He was very apologetic that it brought a bad light on him and our program,” Freeze said. “But I think the events that happened could have happened to a lot of us. He know he’s cannot continue to do that in his brand change.”
Chad’s young brother Casey was the victim of a late hit, which caused a benches-clearing brawl. Video footage shows Chad — who was at the game in Buffalo, New York, during the Rebels’ off week — running toward the opposite sideline before being restrained.
Kelly expressed regret during his meeting the media, saying he was looking out for his brother but that he should have handled the situation in a different manner.
