James Franklin was not happy with the officiating in Penn State’s 38-25 loss to Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl on Saturday.

Franklin mentioned the officiating in his opening statement in his postgame press conference. He called it “less than desirable.”

It’s tough to know what specifically Franklin is upset about. The Nittany Lions were trailing 20-17 at the half and then didn’t score again until the closing minutes of the game. Penn State amassed only 14 yards of offense in the 3rd quarter, which allowed Ole Miss to take a commanding 31-17 lead into the final stanza.

Penn State was called for 6 penalties for 50 yards. Ole Miss was called for 5 penalties for 25 yards.

It was a disappointing performance for Penn State, who fall to 10-3 on the season with this loss. The defeat means that Penn State only won 1 ranked game all season, which came against Iowa back in September.

Penn State will now go back to the drawing board as it tries to take another step forward in 2024.
