Jaxson Dart knew it was going to be a good day for Ole Miss when he heard from his gameday roommate, Tre Harris.
Harris woke up and Dart said he told him, “Bro, my piss is hot.”
Dart told reporters that Harris is usually fired up, but he had a calmness to him on Saturday. That let Dart know he was going to have a huge night.
“I just looked in everybody’s eyes and just to see how determined that they were and focused, and also just calm,” Dart said. “I thought it was just a feeling that gave us an overwhelming amount of confidence that we were going to go down and score.”
And to decide the game, Dart threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Harris with 39 seconds remaining as No. 20 Ole Miss rallied to beat No. 13 LSU 55-49 before the largest crowd ever at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
As Ole Miss was blasted earlier in the week for Lane Kiffin not having a signature win as Rebels coach, the Rebels took that to heart, and produced a memorable victory.
“The only thing I could think running on the field was that this is a legacy game,” Dart said. “How do you want to be remembered?”
