The Ole Miss Rebels moved to 8-1 on the season on Saturday, as they knocked off the Texas A&M Aggies, 38-35. One big reason why the Rebels got the win was the play of quarterback Jaxson Dart.

The junior quarterback was 24-of-33 for 387 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was fueled by some pregame social media comments made by several Aggies, who replied with muscle emojis under an Ole Miss’ Instagram post on Tuesday.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Dart told reporters after the game when asked if it gave extra motivation. “We knew coming in they were a top 10 defense in the country and they were really talented. Coming into this game, we had a lot of confidence already. Them doing that, all it did is boost it even more. I know the O-line specifically took that to heart because of the D-lineman commenting on it. I guess they don’t get enough attention from their losses.”

As good as Dart was, he will need to be every bit as good next weekend. The Rebels head to Georgia next week in a potential SEC Championship Game preview. Right now, Ole Miss has the same record as Alabama, but the Crimson Tide own the tie-breaker due to the head-to-head win.
