Josh Mballa, a Buffalo transfer forward who drew interest from multiple SEC teams, has landed on his commitment.

A 6-foot-7, 220-pound big man, Mballa has committed to play at Ole Miss.

Mballa, who visited Florida and Ole Miss in recent weeks, averaged 13 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, and was one of the nation’s top offensive rebounders, posting a 13.6 offensive rebound percentage, the 39th-best mark among all qualified Division I players in the country regardless of position, according to KenPom. He was a second-team All-MAC player.

Considered one of the Bulls’ most productive inside players in the past 3 seasons, Mballa was the 2020-21 MAC Defensive Player of the Year. Mballa transferred from Texas Tech prior to the 2019-20 season, and averaged 13 points and 9.6 rebounds in 82 games over three seasons. As a junior in 2020-21, Mballa was 10th in the nation in rebounds per game (10.8), The Buffalo News reported.

Mballa entered the NBA Draft evaluation after his second season at Buffalo, and maintained his college eligibility, but withdrew from draft consideration last July.

In the MAC Tournament 2 years ago, Mballa set a tournament record for 50 rebounds over a span of 3 games, including a single game record with 20 rebounds. He started 19 of 22 games that season.
