Lane Kiffin comments on Jaxson Dart's performance, Senior Day win over UL Monroe
Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels are 9-2 after a 35-3 Senior Day victory over Louisiana Monroe Saturday afternoon.
The final score doesn’t reflect the full game. Ole Miss played an excellent second half, but the pesky Warhawks hung around the first half. The Rebels led just 7-3 after the first 30 minutes.
Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss’ starting QB, played well Saturday. Kiffin noted after the game on the field that Dart did not want to come out of the game, despite Kiffin’s wish to get “everybody off the bench” for the last game of the season at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
Here’s Kiffin’s summary of the Rebels’ day when asked postgame:
“They played a really good quarter, 21-0 in the 3rd quarter, so that was good to see. We were able to get everybody off the bench, get everybody playing. So obviously we’ve got a big game coming up to try to get to 10-2,” Kiffin said. “I think (Jaxson Dart) is very competitive, he showed today he didn’t want to come out of the game, made some plays there late to help us. So we’ve got a lot of work to do to get ready for a really big game, and to go get this trophy back. When we’re done with this, we’re going back to work. It was awesome earlier in the year, it was great to have an undefeated season at home, really neat for these seniors.”
Ole Miss looks to finish the season with 10 wins next weekend when they travel to Starkville to take on interim HC Greg Knox and the Bulldogs. Mississippi State is currently up 2 possessions over Southern Miss.
