Lane Kiffin jokes about run defense while discussing Ole Miss’ win over Auburn
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss improved to 7-0 on the season with a 48-34 win over visiting Auburn on Saturday.
It wasn’t easy for the 9th-ranked Rebels, however.
Ole Miss had some issues on defense, allowing more than 300 rushing yards. That allowed the Tigers to stay close for much of the game, which included a 4th-quarter weather delay.
But the Rebels offense had all the answers on this day, piling up 578 total yards, 448 of which came on the ground.
Jaxon Dart, Zach Evans and freshman sensation Quinshon Judkins each surpassed 100 rushing yards in the game for Ole Miss. Dart also passed for 130 yards and 3 touchdowns.

After the game, Kiffin, who is 21-4 in his last 25 games, met with the media to discuss his team’s performance:
On his team’s struggles defending the run:
"They said we had an eight minute lightning delay….I said we didn't have a run defense eight miles from here."

On the successful onsides kick that helped Ole Miss extend its lead:
#OleMiss coach Lane Kiffin wasn't trying to a handstand after the onside kick. He wasn't even watching the play. He thought if he looked too intent on the kickoff Auburn might be tipped off, so he was watching the play on the scoreboard while pretending to talk to the defense.
