Lane Kiffin on Matt Corral's injury, Ole Miss's loss at Auburn
Lane Kiffin and the No. 10 Ole Miss Rebels went into Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday night and suffered a 31-20 loss at the hands of the No. 18 Auburn Tigers.
Star QB Matt Corral was banged up, leaving the game temporarily with a painful ankle injury. He was able to return, but he didn’t have his top 3 receivers to throw to, either.
Kiffin also made some questionable decisions when it came to forgoing field-goal tries to go for it on fourth down. A couple of those failed in key situations, hurting the Rebels.
Here’s what Kiffin had to say in his postgame press conference:
On the environment at Jordan-Hare and the guys who stepped up after injuries:
Coach Kiffin: So, hats off to Auburn. Played really tough. Very tough environment to play in. Bo made a lot of plays for them, especially early on. Thought our defense…(after early on) played exceptionally well and gave us a chance to win. Matt battled to come back in.

Kiffin: "Credit to Jahcour Pearson and Casey Kelly. He (Matt) was throwing to two walk-on kids who are doing a great job out there. Very courageous by Matt to come back out there…"

On Matt Corral’s ankle injury:
Kiffin on Corral's injury: "I thought the way he came off it was really bad, like broken. I had already gone to that place. It was obviously good to have him back there."

Ole Miss hosts Liberty next week in what should be an exciting nonconference game.
