Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels face off against Tulane in a top 25 battle this weekend in New Orleans.

Usually, this would be a fairly one-sided affair. But Tulane is not your typical G5 school. Plenty of pieces are gone from the Green Wave’s exciting Cotton Bowl win over USC, including Tyjae Spears, but Tulane should still be stout heading into Year 8 of the Willie Fritz era.

Why? Star QB Michael Pratt.

The junior QB was 1 incompletion away from perfect in Tulane’s Week 1 win over South Alabama, throwing for 294 yards with 4 touchdowns. He also rushed for 39 yards, but has the ability to do much more damage when it’s required of him.

Regardless of those around him, Pratt’s dual threat ability makes the Green Wave a worthy adversary. Kiffin agrees. On Monday the Ole Miss head coach told reporters that Week 2 “will not be an evaluation game.”

While Tulane provides Ole Miss’ first real test of the 2023 season, the Rebels showed a lot Saturday. QB Jaxson Dart was incredible, throwing for 4 touchdowns of his own, all to Louisiana Tech transfer Tre Harris.

The game is set to kick at 3:30 ET on ESPN2 in New Orleans. This should be a fun one.
