Lane Kiffin receiving blowback on social media following comments on Egg Bowl
By Sydney Hunte
Published:
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss defeated Mike Leach and Mississippi State 31-24 in the 2020 edition of the Egg Bowl rivalry. Now, the Bulldogs will look to avenge last year’s loss in the series on Thanksgiving night and end the Rebels’ chance at a New Year’s 6 bowl. And while it might be a bitter rivalry – though not as much so as the Iron Bowl – there’s a great deal of bragging rights that’s up for grabs.
The Egg Bowl has provided plenty of notable moments in recent years, none more than in 2019 when Elijah Moore’s unsportsmanlike conduct penalty set in motion a chain reaction of events that saw Matt Luke fired and Kiffin eventually hired to lead the program.
This is Kiffin’s 2nd Egg Bowl, and he appears to be downplaying the rivalry aspect a little bit through comments he made on Monday:
"It is just football. You really shouldn't hate people because of where you go to school."

Those remarks from the usually quotable Kiffin naturally raised some eyebrows across social media, with some rather humorous comments from fans being fired his way. Here’s some of the reaction:
That's what they teach him at Fresno St?
