Lane Kiffin has reportedly found Ole Miss’ new tight ends coach.

According to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports, Joe Cox will coach Ole Miss tight ends after spending the past two seasons at Alabama.

Cox, 37, was a Georgia quarterback from 2005-to-2009. After Matthew Stafford’s departure for the NFL, Cox took over as the starter in 2009.

Cox began his coaching career as a North Carolina high school offensive coordinator in 2014. In 2015, Cox joined Mike Bobo’s Colorado State staff as a graduate assistant.

After one season as a GA, Cox became Colorado State’s tight ends coach. He held the position 2016-through-2019.

Bobo was dismissed as CSU head coach following the 2019 season and joined Will Muschamp’s staff at South Carolina. Cox followed Bobo, coaching Gamecocks wide receivers for the 2020 season.

Cox spent the 2021 season as Charlotte’s tight ends coach. He was hired to Nick Saban’s Alabama staff ahead of the 2022 season.

This season, Alabama TE Amari Niblack was the Tide’s No. 3 pass-catcher with 20 receptions for 327 yards and 4 touchdowns. In 2022, Cameron Latu was fourth on the team in receiving yards with 30 catches for 377 yards and 4 scores.

Cox inherits an exciting tight end room in Oxford. Caden Prieskorn is returning for 2024 after logging 30 catches for 449 yards and 4 touchdowns in 10 games last season. The Rebels also added Virginia Tech transfer Dae’Quan Wright out of the portal. Wright had 28 receptions for 366 yards last season with the Hokies.
