Lane Kiffin responds to question about being Auburn's top candidate
Lane Kiffin has been widely reported as one of Auburn’s top targets in its coaching search, and rumors have swirled about his interest in the job.
After the loss to Arkansas on Saturday, Kiffin was asked about being in the mix at Auburn.
“I’m very happy here…Very happy here and appreciative of the leadership here,” Kiffin said. “I love being here. There’s a lot of people coming back (next year), a lot of good guys coming back. Very excited about the future…”
Along with Kiffin, Liberty’s Hugh Freeze has been mentioned most often, along with former Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule, and Jackson State coach Deion Sanders.
Ole Miss is Kiffin’s fourth head coaching job in college, and he also coached the NFL’s Oakland Raiders. This is his third season at Ole Miss and before Saturday he’s discussed how much Oxford has meant to him, personally and professionally.
The major reasons mentioned for him and the Auburn job that’s different than Ole Miss are resources, and the path to a championship.
