Lane Kiffin speaks to growth of team, bye-week emphasis following win over Arkansas
Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss will get the weekend off after playing a stretch of tough games.
Besides the loss to Alabama, Ole Miss has looked great this season and is making a strong effort to win the SEC West. Kiffin believes the team has grown significantly since last season. He addressed that growth during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday.
“I think we’re better in the passing game than a year ago,” Kiffin said. “Still a ways to go, but our red zone numbers have improved. And our fourth down percentages have improved also.”
But he still sees plenty of room for improvement. If Kiffin wants a shot at reaching the SEC Championship, he’ll need to get his team dialed in across all aspects.
“3rd downs, both sides of the ball,” Kiffin said. “Limiting explosive plays on defense and really just be more efficient on offense so we’re not in such 3rd and longs.”
Kiffin did mention that his team is in a good spot health-wise, which is always important late in the season.
When Ole Miss gets back from the bye week, it will take on Auburn.
