Lane Kiffin speaks to unique aspects of Egg Bowl
Lane Kiffin has a few Egg Bowls under his belt now and listed off some ways it’s different from most rivalries at Monday’s press conference.
Kiffin will be facing Mississippi State in yet another edition of the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving.
Playing on a Thursday and having a short week are 2 things that SEC teams are not used to.
“It’s unlike any other rivalry in learning the Thursday aspect of the schedule,” said Kiffin. “Getting used to playing like that because we haven’t been a part of a lot of Thursday night games, short week of college football.”
The feeling of losing the trophy is different. Ole Miss had it from 2021-2022 and lost it last year. Kiffin said that the hope is the players want it back even more.
“With some things you have a different view of it when you lose it. So, we had the trophy here for a couple years and we lost it last year. You hope that it makes the players want it back a little bit more instead of just having it here all the time.”
The Rebels will be extra motivated to win the trophy back after how the last game ended. Ole Miss scored with no time left on the clock and failed on a 2-point conversion, losing 24-22.
Kickoff will be on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
