Matt Corral had a unique relationship with Lane Kiffin, and now that he is projected to be one of the first quarterbacks taken in the spring NFL Draft, Corral is describing that relationship.

He did so this week with Jim Rome on CBS Sports Radio, and described Kiffin as different, in a good way.

“I believe there was nobody that had the relationship that I had with my head coach across the country,” Corral said. “Me and him were really close, and it’s not just him, my OC too, Jeff Lebby. I got blessed with coaches, I got lucky with coaches who cared about the person, Matt Corral, rather than the player, and the player took care of itself.”

About the pre-draft process, Corral said he’s focused on working out, and getting himself in shape for the NFL Draft workouts.

“It’s truly a blessing,” Corral said. “Just the people I’ve crossed paths with in my career playing football so far. It’s just relationships I have for life, as far as coaches, players, teammates, like I said, I wouldn’t want it any other way. Just to be in this position is really a blessing.”

Corral, who suffered a leg injury in the Sugar Bowl, proved to be one of the most exciting players in college football in 2021, as he passed for 3,339 yards and 20 touchdowns along with 597 yards and 11 TDs rushing.
