The Ole Miss Rebels hired a pair of new coordinators this offseason, and both have previous head coaching experience.

Leading the offense will be former Arizona, West Virginia and Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez, and leading the defense will be ex-Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre.

On Tuesday, as the Rebels prepare to kick off spring practices, head coach Matt Luke discussed what the new coordinators bring to the table (via a release from the school):

“I’m really excited about the experience and the knowledge that they bring. That is your job as a leader, to bring in the best people that you can. Probably what I like most is that they have sat in my chair and they see the big picture. They understand it. And even more importantly the staff chemistry has been really, really good. I think that is the most important thing. I think the players, they feed off of the coaches, and I feel that the chemistry of the staff is very important. I really like the direction they are headed.”

The Rebels have a lot of holes to fill this offseason, especially on offense, so it’ll be interesting to see what RichRod can do with the Ole Miss attack.

For now, though, it’ll be about developing some more depth and getting the new coordinators settled in this spring.
