Missouri is dealing with injuries to two key players that will force the Tigers to make adjustments this week against Ole Miss.

On the SEC coaches media teleconference, Ole Miss coach Matt Luke was asked how that might change the Rebels’ game plan this week in Columbia, Missouri. Do you plan for multiple quarterbacks?

“Our mindset is to get ready for Kelly, so that’s our belief and we will have to adjust from there,” Luke said.

Garrett had surgery earlier this week to repair a pectoral injury and is expected to be out for the season. Luke again was asked if it changes the game plan.

“It doesn’t, the scheme is not going to change, so we base our gameplan off what we have seen on film,” he said. “You hate to see it, the type of player and competitor he is.”

Here’s what else Luke said:

  • on playing more SEC East teams: again, that’s out of my — you prepare for who you got. I don’t really have a say so.
  • would you be agreeable to a change in the schedule? Yeah, I think it would be good. I think the fans enjoy it too, getting to see some new opponents and trips.
  • on building with young players: It is a challenge but it’s always fun because guys grow so much and enjoy playing the game. You wish you could start the season over at times due to the freshman mistakes but you love how they compete and grow as the season goes.
  • on no longer having the post season ban: I think it is big, that feeling of normalcy is like a cloud being removed. I think it helps recruiting, it gives the players something to thrive for and compete for.
