Matt Luke will continue to be Ole Miss’ head coach into the future.

On Friday, Keith Carter shed his interim tag and became the permanent athletic director for the Rebels. And during his official introduction, Carter gave a vote of confidence to Luke moving forward, heading into Ole Miss’ regular-season finale at Mississippi State and beyond.

“I think our football program is headed in a great direction,” Carter said during the press conference. “I’m so excited about Coach Luke. He’s our coach, and we couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity we have next week in Starkville. We’re excited about where recruiting is and excited about where the future is headed. We’re going to get behind Coach Luke, and we’re going to try to get after the Bulldogs next week and get to that fifth win.”

Luke is in his third season as Ole Miss head coach, going 15-20 over that span. This year, the Rebels are 4-7 (2-5 in SEC games) entering their Egg Bowl matchup against Mississippi State on Thanksgiving.

Although the results haven’t been there yet for Ole Miss, it appears Luke’s job security is safe for the time being, as Carter indicated on Friday.

The Rebels and Bulldogs are set to kick off on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
