Ole Miss announces NCAA has approved waiver for incoming transfer defender
Ole Miss received word from the NCAA that will bolster its defensive front.
The Rebels transfer waiver for DE Tavius Robinson to play immediately has been approved. Robinson is a 6-foot-8, 250-pound defensive end out of Canada, specifically a weak-side defensive end from University of Guelph.
Robinson will add some depth to a position that desperately needs it. Josiah Coatney and Benito Jones finished their college careers, and Charles Wiley entered the transfer portal. It’s a lot to ask from new defensive line coach Deke Adams.
Robinson reportedly sent video to Ohio State, Michigan, Washington State, and Nebraska along with Ole Miss, according to Red Cup Rebellion.
The Red Cup Rebellion offered this scouting report: Robinson was dominant off the ball. He is quick out of his stance, gets upfield with authority and uses his long strides to beat tackles around the edge, or blow by them through the B gaps. When he gets in the backfield, even if the play gets past him, he works back to the ball and lays the wood.
