Ole Miss edges Florida State behind strikeout gem from Doug Nikhazy
Doug Nikhazy turned in a career night as Ole Miss dispatched of Florida State in Oxford on Saturday night.
Nikhazy had a career-high 16 strikeouts as the Rebels knocked off Florida State 4-3 and advanced to the regional final on Sunday.
Kevin Graham was 2-for-4 with an RBI, and Jacob Gonzalez was 1-for-2 with two runs scored, and he also had a walk and was hit by a pitch.
Florida State scored three runs in the fifth inning on a pair of home runs off of Nikhazy. Seminole starter Bryce Hubbart went 5 1/3 innings.
Taylor Broadway relieved Nikhazy after the starter went seven strong innings, and allowed three runs on four hits with a walk. Broadway struck out the side in the ninth inning for his 15th save.
Ole Miss will face the winner of Southern Miss-Florida State on Sunday at 5 p.m. CT.
