Ole Miss Fund apologizes for 'insensitive' email sent out about estate planning
On Tuesday morning, Ole Miss alumni and donors were greeted with a troubling email — one from the Ole Miss Fund that discussed leaving a portion of your money to the school in your will.
Considering the current outbreak of COVID-19, this was a bad time for the Ole Miss Fund to send out this email.
You can see the message sent to people below, via a tweet from Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio:
Ole Miss basically says hey you might die of CoronaVirus, so please put us in your will

The mistake was an honest one, as it was a previously scheduled email. However, the timing certainly was poor. The Ole Miss Fund issued an apology for the unfortunate email on Tuesday afternoon, which you can see below:
We deeply apologize for a University Development email sent Tuesday morning dealing with estate-planning information. This message was a previously scheduled newsletter focused on providing guidance for planned giving. 1/3 pic.twitter.com/NUpfyq8ZcX

We hope everyone in our university community is focusing on doing everything possible to stay safe in the current climate. 3/3

It’s a bad look, for sure, but this all seems to be an honest mistake.
