Monte Kiffin died at age 84 on July 11 after over 5 decades coaching in college and the NFL, most notably with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their defensive coordinator from 1996-2008. Kiffin coached the ferocious defense that led the Buccaneers to their 1st Super Bowl title in 2002.
When Kiffin passed away, his son, who’s been the Ole Miss head coach since 2020, shared exactly how much his father has meant to him throughout his life.

Prior to his death, Monte Kiffin served as a player personnel analyst for the Rebels under Lane, helping with daily duties around the facility in Oxford. Last season, Ole Miss posted its best finish in school history with an 11-2 record and a Peach Bowl victory over Penn State. This year, the Rebels have College Football Playoff aspirations.
Along with his Super Bowl title in Tampa Bay, Monte Kiffin won 2 national championships at Nebraska (1970, ’71) as the Cornhuskers’ defensive coordinator, and Kiffin was inducted into the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Ring of Honor in 2021.
