Ole Miss kicker Caden Costa missed the Egg Bowl on Thursday, and on Friday morning, he issued a statement about his availability for the rest of the season.

Costa is Ole Miss’ leading kicker and has made 14-of-17 field goal attempts this season, and 46-of-48 extra point attempts. He wrote on social media that he is ineligible to play the rest of the season because of an NCAA protocol involving an endurance substance most likely found in a contaminated supplement.

He wrote that he would never intentionally give himself a competitive advantage, and he plans to appeal to return in 2022. Costa wrote that he prides himself on integrity and dedication to his work ethic.
