Ole Miss is looking for a new quarterback in 2025, and it has one potential answer now with Louisville transfer Pierce Clarkson signing with the Rebels, according to On3 on Monday.
Ole Miss has been spoiled the past few seasons with star Jaxson Dart at the helm. But now Lane Kiffin‘s surging program will be starting a new era in 2025, and the great unknown for this fall centers around who will take over behind center.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Clarkson is from California, but he chose to leave the West Coast and play for the Cardinals. Now he apparently is staying in the Southeast and will head to Oxford to compete with Austin Simmons for the Rebels’ starting job in 2025 with Dart expected to enter the NFL Draft.
Clarkson is the son of well-known quarterbacks coach Steve Clarkson, so he grew up learning the game and the position. Clarkson redshirted during his true freshman season in 2023 and will have 3 seasons of eligibility left when he arrives in Oxford this year.
Clarkson didn’t make much of a dent at Louisville. In 2 seasons there, he appeared in just 3 games, completing 4 of 6 passes for 18 yards. He also had 5 carries for 9 yards. So, he’ll be motivated to earn a lot more playing time at Ole Miss in 2025 and, just maybe, the starting quarterback job.
