Florida State’s loss appears to be Ole Miss’ gain on the recruiting trail.

Big news from the Magnolia State on Monday as four-star quarterback prospect Luke Altmyer has just announced his decommitment from Mike Norvell’s Florida State program while the Rebels continue to celebrate the program’s latest Egg Bowl win.

Altmyer had been committed to FSU dating back to February but visited Oxford over the weekend.

However, after seeing the progress made in Oxford this season — and the lack of progress in Tallahassee under Norvell — the Starkville High School standout had opened his recruitment back up.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Altmyer is rated as a top 200 overall prospect nationally, the No. 12 pro-style passer and the No. 3 overall recruit from the state of Mississippi in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Elite 11 Finals signal-caller currently holds scholarship offers from Alabama, LSU, Oregon, Mississippi State, among others.

After announcing his decommitment from FSU, the longtime Ole Miss target appears to be trending toward joining the Rebel program.
