D.D. Bowie, a 4-star wide receiver/defensive back in the 2017 class, has been verbally committed to Ole Miss since 2015, but there was reason for the Rebels to worry ahead of National Signing Day.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were making a heavy play for the 6-foot-1, 170-pound wide out, but, at the end of the day, Bowie decided to honor his original pledge, according to The Clarion-Ledger.

The Mississippi native is now the Rebels’ top recruit in the 2017 class, one of only two 4-star prospects in Hugh Freeze’s group and one of two wide receivers.

According to the 247Sports composite, Bowie is the No. 20 receiver in the class of 2017 and the No. 3 overall recruit from the state of Mississippi.
