Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State 86-82 on Tuesday night in Oxford.

The Rebels are now 14-3 on the season and, at 5-3 in SEC play, are just a couple of games behind league-leaders Alabama in the SEC standings.

Mississippi State’s Cameron Matthews had a chance to tie the game with just 4 seconds remaining in regulation. Matthews stepped to the free throw line for a pair of foul shots, but missed both attempts. On the ensuing possession, Ole Miss drained a pair of free throws of its own to seal the win.

Here are some highlights from Ole Miss’ big win:

For the Rebels, it was Jaylen Murray who led the way with 21 points. He also had a team-high 11 assists and chipped in 6 rebounds. Matthew Murrell scored 20 points while TJ Caldwell poured in 18 off the bench.

The trio of Murray, Murrell and Caldwell combined to shoot 11-of-23 from 3-point range. Those 3 players made more long-range shots in this game than the entire Mississippi State roster.

Ole Miss has now won 3 games in a row overall. The Rebels will put that winning streak on the line on Saturday as they host Auburn.
