The college bowl season is so much more than just a collection of postseason games rewarding teams that posted winning records during the regular season.

Each bowl game entails its own week-long experience for the teams participating in the event, including team interactions, fan interactions, visits to prominent sites in town and more.

The public relations team with the Peach Bowl was kind enough to share some behind the scenes looks at this year’s bowl week with SDS, featuring the Ole Miss Rebels and the TCU Horned Frogs.

“I like bowl games because you spend the whole week with your team and your prepping all week and having fun and having competitions against the other team,” Ole Miss defensive tackle Robert Nkemdiche said leading up to his second career bowl appearance. “That’s fun. It’s a good experience.”

The teams arrived on Christmas night and were able to interact with one another at a welcome party held on the first full day of Peach Bowl Week on Dec. 26.

Throughout the week, both teams took part in a number of scheduled events, some of which related to football and some of which were a welcomed break from the persistent bowl preparations both teams underwent between the end of the regular season and the New Year’s Eve game.

Both teams took a tour of the new College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. Here’s a photo of a few Ole Miss players enjoying the tour and educating themselves on the history of college football:

Because Chick Fil A was the sponsor of this year’s Peach Bowl, the players were also able to participate in a milkshake-making competition. No word was given as to whether the players were able to enjoy their work after the shakes were made.

The teams also competed in an Xbox One challenge in which players from both teams put their video game skills and their team’s pride on the line. Here’s a shot of Ole Miss backup quarterback DeVante Kincade (left) and TCU’s Sam Carter playing a game of Madden NFL 2015:

The teams each made their own trips to Dave and Busters were they were able to blow off some steam and enjoy some time at the arcade. Here’s a shot of a few Ole Miss players in a heated mini-basketball competition:

These types of events are often favorable among the players, and Ole Miss linebacker Serderius Bryant said before game day that the events surrounding the game took the week to a new level of excitement.

“I’m just having fun, enjoying the festivities and enjoying everything that we’re doing,” Bryant said. “I’m having fun with it. It’s great that we can show up in a city like this and have a good time.”

Bowl games also mean gifts for the players from both participating teams, something Ole Miss tight end Evan Engram found rather exciting.

“The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl staff treated us pretty well last night,” Engram said. “We got an Apple TV, a nice Fossil watch, a 300 dollar VISA gift card, a Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl football and a Chick-fil-A gift card.”

But at the end of the day, even though the Rebels lost 42-3 they never allowed the fun activities throughout Peach Bowl Week distract them from the ultimate goal at hand.

“We’re going to have a lot of fun, nights and everything, but I look at it as big players make big-time plays in big-time games,” Bryant said. “This is a big-time game, so all the big players have to step up and make big plays.”
