Ole Miss linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche was in the intensive care unit of Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi on Wednesday night, according to Rivals.com.

Nkemdiche, a former All-Southeastern Conference selection and a freshman All-American, has been in the hospital since Monday. The reason for his hospitalization is unknown.

Nkemdiche leads the Rebels with 53 tackles so far this season. According to the report, Nkemdiche, a senior, was found on Monday and taken to the hospital, where he was admitted.

On Wednesday afternoon, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze had said that Nkemdiche is “dealing with a personal matter.”

“We are going to walk through it with him,” Freeze said. “When issues come up that you need to get through that involve one of our players and anything with their family, we just want to support them and help them through it.”
