Bowl destination, opponent for Ole Miss officially revealed
Ole Miss is headed to a bowl game for the first time since the 2015 season.
The Rebels will head to the Outback Bowl in Tampa to take on No. 11 Indiana on Jan. 2, it was announced on Sunday. And it’s a first-time matchup for either team on the gridiron as well.
The state of Florida is certainly familiar territory for Lane Kiffin, who coached at Florida Atlantic for 3 seasons before his return to the SEC to take the reins of the Rebels program. In his first season, Ole Miss showed progress but weren’t able to put all the pieces together; still, it can clinch its 1st non-losing season since 2017 with a win over the Hoosiers.
Indiana will enter the game at 6-1, its only loss coming to Ohio State on Nov. 21. The Hoosiers have not played since a 14-6 win over Wisconsin on Dec. 5; an 8th game against Purdue was ultimately canceled.
Kickoff between Ole Miss and Indiana on Jan. 2 is set for 12:30 pm ET/11:30 pm CT on ABC.
This should be a great game. Ole Miss offense is crazy good. I doubt Indiana can keep up.
I wish ole miss would have kept Coach Allen and made him HC instead of Matt Luke. Atleast our defense would have stayed consistant. We haven’t had a decent defense since he left.
It was amazing to see the rebels almost come back from a self-inflicted 6 turnover game to beat LSU. Hopefully they are less rusty against the Hoosiers.
Should be able to at least get enough practices in this time
I think they can beat them. It’ll show how the SEC plays better than their record this year. At this rate LSU could’ve played in Orlando or Tampa if we didn’t have the bowl ban…
Good matchup
This will be a fun game to watch.
Should be a fun game to watch…Indiana took Ohio State to the brink.
Ole miss will get slapped around in this one I’m afraid. Too many players out due to opt outs or injury. Plus, Indiana is top 10. Could get ugly. Hope I’m wrong…
