It’s pretty rare to see an SEC program schedule a home-and-home with a Sun Belt program but that’s exactly what South Alabama announced on Tuesday.

According to South Alabama, the Jaguars are scheduled to travel to Oxford on Sept. 2, 2028. Ole Miss is then scheduled to head to Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala., the following season on Sept. 1, 2029.

Ole Miss holds a 1-0 all-time mark against South Alabama, with the only matchup between the two programs coming during the 2017 season. The Rebels won that matchup 47-27.

South Alabama has not hosted an SEC team since the program welcomed Mississippi State to town back on Sept. 13, 2014.

“We are very excited to sign this home-and-home contract with Ole Miss,” Jag head coach Steve Campbell said via a release. “They have a proud program and tradition, it will be great to have them play in Hancock Whitney Stadium; hopefully they will be the first of many Power Five schools to make that trip to play here in Mobile. Mississippi has been very good for us as far as recruiting, we have brought in a lot of talented student-athletes from the state, I know it will be exciting for those future recruits to play Ole Miss.”

South Alabama now has six future matchups against SEC programs scheduled as the Jaguars are set to take on Florida in 2020, Tennessee in 2021, LSU in 2024, Auburn in 2025 and Kentucky 2026. All of these matchups will be on the road for South Alabama.
