Ole Miss struggled this season, going 13-19 overall and finishing 4-14 in SEC action.

That had many thinking coach Kermit Davis could be on the hot seat. However, that doesn’t appear to be the case — at least not this year.

On Wednesday, the Rebels announced via a press release that Davis was returning for the 2022-23 season:

“Coach Davis and I have had productive discussions this week, and while our team faced some unforeseen circumstances, we are both disappointed by this season’s results,” said AD Keith Carter. “Kermit has enjoyed tremendous success throughout his career and understands what it takes to win at a high level. He has presented to me a plan to regain the momentum that took our program to the NCAA Tournament just a few years ago. Additionally, we are committed to providing him support and resources in order to make the changes necessary to compete for championships. We believe in Kermit’s vision for Ole Miss Basketball and look forward to seeing it translate to NCAA Tournament success.”

In 4 years at Ole Miss, Davis has put together an overall record of 64-61 and a 30-42 mark in SEC play. He made it to the NCAA Tournament in Year 1, losing in the first round.
