Ole Miss will wear powder blue helmets for the third time this season when the Rebels travel to Memphis on Saturday.

The first time the Rebels wore the powder blue helmets this season, they upset Alabama 43-37 in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 19. They also wore the helmets the following week, when they defeated Vanderbilt 27-16.

The powder blue helmets are worn as a tribute to the late Chucky Mullins, an Ole Miss defensive back who was paralyzed while making a tackle against Vanderbilt in 1989. The Rebels wore powder blue helmets from 1948-77 and then again from 1983-94. Mullins played on the 1988 and 1989 teams. The helmets are one of several tributes to Mullins by the University of Mississippi and its football program.

Ole Miss traditionally wears navy blue helmets.

The Rebels play Memphis at noon on Saturday. The game will be broadcast on ABC.
